DR. ATUL KUMAR

Dr. Atul Kumar obtained Master’s Degree from University of Roorkee in 1991 and Ph.D from IIT, Delhi in 1997. His Doctoral Dissertation topic was “Soliton properties and their switching dynamics in optical fiber with saturating nonlinearity”. Soon after finishing his Ph.D. he was offered post doctoral research fellowship from Prof. Y C Chung of Dept. of ECE, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), South Korea where he worked on various aspects of WDM based optical communication systems including crosstalk effect on system performance.

Prior to joining AIT, Dr. Atul Kumar worked as Assistant Professor in Dept. of ECE at NIET, Greater Noida and as a Lecturer in Dept. of Applied Physics at Amity University. During the period April 2003 to March 2005 Dr. Atul Kumar was at Research Center of Advanced Science & Technology (RCAST) in University of Tokyo (Komaba Campus), Japan working as post doctoral research fellow. The fellowship (Monbugaku-sho) was awarded by Government of Japan. Research efforts during this period include design and experimental realization of ring and linear fiber laser and supercontinuum generation.

During the period Jan 2001 to March 2003, Dr. Atul Kumar was with Renka Inc. Noida, a Fiber Optics components based Telecom company. He worked in the capacity of Group Leader (R&D) responsible for the design, development and production of fiber coupler, isolator, patch cords etc. Later he acted as Head (Services) and developed fiber network business from Reliance, Bharti, RailTel etc.

Dr. Atul Kumar has published more than 10 research papers in International journals and conferences. His current research includes fiber laser & supercontinuum light, DWDM optical network. He is a life member of ISTE.
