Prof. J.K. Mehta

After completing B.Sc. from Lucknow University and Graduate Membership Programme of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers New-Delhi, served as Gazetted Officer (26 Years) with Doordarshan and Akashvani, two wings under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in various capacities.

The long service career of 39 years started in 1964 with Akashvani Bombay and ended at New-Delhi in year 2004. During the service, he underwent training in "Television Techniques" at Mandi House New-Delhi in year 1972 followed by training in "Color Television" at Staff Training Institute (Technical) in year 1982. Soon after training in early 1972, served at Doordarshan Kendras of Srinagar, Lucknow, Kanpur and Ahmedabad up to the year 1984, before joining Research and Development Division of A.I.R and Doordarshan. Leh, Laddakh was the last station of A.I.R and Doordarshan where he served for the year 1994-1995 as Station Engineer.

Deputed as I.T.U fellow from India to visit Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart and Perth), Singapore and Tokyo (Japan) to study "Future Trends in Broadcasting" in the year 1989. He coordinated with foreign Television delegations such as KBS South Korea, Chinese Television and Kuwait Television for their technical requirements during Asian Games, 1982.

He also established "Centre for Digital Technique in Broadcasting" under UNDP sponsored programme, at Research and Development department of A.I.R. and Doordarshan, New-Delhi in year 1986.

He prepared two documentaries for Population Commission of India on successful achievements of Population Stabilization programme by Tamil Nadu and Kerala for use in bringing similar success in BMARU states.

On social welfare front, as founder General Secretary of PARIVAAR-National Federation of Parents Association of persons with Autism, Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy and multi disability, he participated in National and International (Paris, France in 1990, Toronto and Vancouver, Canada in 1992, and Kathmandu, Nepal in 1993) seminars and conferences to further the cause of the disabled.
